A letter to pedro also known as pete

Image
The poem "Letter to Pedro, U.S. Citizen, also called Pete" is a response to the ongoing reality of Filipino immigration to foreign countries in search of greener pastures due to a catastrophe of problems the Philippines is facing, as reflected by the sentence enjambment, melancholy imagery, blatant satire, and double persona.        The poem thoroughly describes the main characters' previous lives. The author discusses societal corruption as well as the differences between the past and the present.        As the major protagonists confront their present, there are also sentimental overtones from their upbringing

Footnote to Youth

Image
Rushing things might lead to problems, regardless of whether it is a good option for your life.        Dudong, the protagonist of "Footnote to Youth," begins byworking in the fields. He is too preoccupied and anxious to inform his father that he hasproposed to Teang, the lady he loves, and she has accepted.         The clear message of the story is the need for calm and patience before making life-altering decisions.

The visitation of the gods

Image
The short story is about the reality of the process of death of Filipino idealism in the administration of public schools.            A story that depicts the reality happening in public schools when high positioned people visits the school. They made impressions to earn high rates from the them. Basically, they are just pretending on what they are doing.            Becoming true to oneself is better than having a mask which people are already aware that you are just pretending. It will just cause shame to ourselves.

A poppy

The moral of the story is that no matter what issues arise, you must find a peaceful solution rather than beginning a conflict, which will cost many lives and harm countless children.       The story "A poppy" is about flowers with various meanings and also symbolizes the war and the carnage that took place in it as well as the loss of many lives in it.

Sinigang

Each one of us commits mistakes that can hurt anyone. Sometimes, it is so hard to forgive especially when he/she commits mistakes that affect your entire life. But, the only thing that will make your life peaceful is that we need to learn how to forgive.        In the story, we saw the negative effects of having extramarital affair with someone. The one who suffers the most is not the 1st party but their child. It can hurt them emotionally and physically.         Life is not full of happy endings. But, it is our choice on how we will face the obstacles of life. Keep in mind the quote of Professor Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series. “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

Dead stars

Image
it is entitled as Dead Stars because when stars die, their glow diminishes then eventually vanishes like the feelings of Alfredo when he touches the hand of Julia when they see each other after a year, he realizes that the feelings that he had to her were gone. I believe that everything happens for a reason.       Alfredo is engaged to Esperanza, and society sees the two as an ideal couple. Yet Alfredo is continually drawn to Julia, who is his 'dream girl,' the shining star of his fantasy.          It speaks of emotions and relationships that may exist but are not realized and lose their real meaning and significance. In the story, the attraction between Alfredo and Julia is a forbidden and taboo phenomenon.

How my brother leon brought home a wife

Image
Narrative by Manuel Arguilla, "How my brother Leon brought home a wife? " focuses on Baldo, the prospective brother-in-law, as he meets Maria, his brother's wife.  Baldo first noticed Maria when she was introduced by Leon, or as Maria chooses to call him Noel, and thought she was beautiful and fragrant, just like papayas in bloom early in the morning.  He was attracted to her face's finer features, like her dimples.

The last leaf

Image
The short story "The Last Leaf" includes love and friendship as one of its main topics. Sue and Johnsy are best friends in the truest sense of the word, and Sue adores Johnsy.  When Johnsy was ill, she tried to assist him morally and spiritually. Here are some quotes from the story: "Why, the doctor told me this morning that your chances of recovering quickly were - let's see exactly what he said - the chances were ten to one! Why, that's almost as good a chance as we have in New York when we ride on the street cars or walk past a new building. This story teaches us that we should never lose hope in life quickly. It also teaches us the meaning of true friendship. Behrman sacrificed his own life so his friend wouldn't lose hope and recover from her illness.

The Wedding Dance

Image
It presented the situation of lovers who where they must let go of extreme emotions to give way for the man to marry another woman. Awiyao couldn’t bare the sadness seen in Lumnay’s face anymore.          If you truly love a person, you must let them take the road to happiness, no matter how painful it is.        Before your getaway, have all your guests leave the ballroom and enjoy one dance with just you and your groom alone in your wedding reception. It was so magical! Less. Courtney Gates.

I Got Flowers Today

Image
The poem is all about a woman who is abused from the beginning. He begins by calling her terrible things that seriously hurt her feelings, then apologizes after the fact.          It's emotional abuse at this point. The abuse then becomes more aggressive. He begins physically abusing her and threatens her life. She then begins to cover herself up in order to conceal what was happening to her behind closed doors. Then her man beat her much more, and she couldn't hide the visible marking on her body, so she called in sick to work.         Then things worsen within their relationship, and she presumably mentions how exhausted she is of all the drama and abuse.
